I guess it's time for an update. My dad passed away a few days ago and I have been doing my best to distance myself from it because I am scared of letting myself realize what this means to me. I think the best thing I can do is to keep myself focused on saving for the trails and planning for my future adventures. I am planning several adventures for the coming year and I hope I will be able to undertake them. I will be leaving for the Ocean to Lake trail in a few weeks or so.
Here are some of my plans for the coming year as I save up for the FT and the AT.
Ocean to Lake YoYo
Florida Coast to Coast Bike Route
Citrus Hiking Trail
Foothills Trail YoYo
Peaks of Grandfather Mountain Peakbagging Trip
I don't feel like writing much. I don't have much energy or motivation at this point. I just want to focus on making money and saving for my plans. I will hopefully be working long hours today because yesterday I didn't make my daily minimum trail savings and I need to catch up.
In other news, I've ordered my blaze orange beanie and my blaze orange sweater for the OTL and they are arriving this week. I'm starting to think about bringing a sleeping bag or quilt, as this week we've had temps in the 60s and I was freezing even while wearing several layers. I definitely do not want to be freezing during my OTL hike, as it would definitely ruin the experience. The quilt I've planned to buy for a while now is made by Enlightened Equipment, but I don't think I will be able to afford it in time for the OTL. I definitely will have it by the time I leave for the FT, though. I'm excited to get a custom one with cute colors, I really like the light blue-green one, but I've yet to decide on a color combo.
Anyways, I'm really tired of typing now. I'll probably be back later.
